WHAT IS A DVR
(Digital Video Recorder)?
Providing you with the complete digital TV experience, a DVR is a type of digital TV set-top box for your
normal TV. Sometimes known as a PVR (Personal Video Recorder), it has the
ability to receive a perfect digital quality picture (just like watching a DVD)
from the ‘free to air’ TV networks and it can also save your favourite TV
programs to its memory (say an 80 gigabyte hard disk) for you to watch when you
want.
You can watch a show you have recorded while it
records another program, or you can even start watching the program you are
recording before it finishes. If you fast forward the ads,you will start
catching back up to 'real time'. This is called 'Time Slipping'!
WHY USE A DVR?
No one wants to waste time watching commercials
yet we all spend 30% of the time in front of our TVs watching them. Everyone
would like to watch the programs they want to watch when they want to watch
them, yet we obediently alter our own schedules to fall inline with the TV
network's programming. "Sorry Darling, I can't come over tonight because 'Sex in the City' is
on at 9.00PM."
